Dear Internets,

[Tsardust, pictured with her newly painted face]

In Australia, we've become accustomed to adopting other nations holidays. It makes sense since there's such cultural diversity and a relatively short native cultural history. It makes even more sense when the holidays we adopt allow us to dress up, paint our faces, and drink on a weekday. Many men would call what I just described 'watching the game' as they swat us away for interrupting their heavy concentration [please note the sarcasm]. For me it's the celebration of Dia De Los Muertos.

For those who follow my instagram (@pixelhazard) which is now available online, you probably got a bit of a taste of the celebrations at Mrs Sippy last week hosted by Espolon tequila. There were skull shaped maracas, a mariachi band, painted faces, tacos, tarot readings and tasty summery Espolon cocktails designed by brand ambassador Oliver Stuart.

While the entire night was fantastic, people often remark "can't I hang out with friends and drink and stuff without getting dressed up". Sure it's not it those exact words and during the Halloween season I might often  reply rather flatly with an emphatic "NO!" but the truth is flexibility and creativity in a wardrobe is entirely up to you.

On the night, I wore a basic black scoop neck tee with a multi-panelled midi skirt, which happen to be a maxi skirt from my childhood with a somewhat more relaxed waistband. My floral  garland was a creation you can purchase online or in person at Glebe markets on the last Saturday on November.

With great company, we partied the night away. Special thanks to the appropriately spooky Trish Nicol Girls & Espolon Tequila. So what did you guys get up to this Halloween season?
