Dear Internets,

While the fashion industry is often regarded as vacuous, you might be surprised to note the many intelligent minds that flutter behind the designers, editors , PR and bloggers alike. Between the economics, law and medical science degrees are creative minds that leave us parting our lips to gasp in awe. So perhaps while the weather is too hot, or too cold to do anything but sit by a book, instead of dumbing down our brain in the interest of gaining a few centimeters in our heels and fashion cred we could add some of these to our Christmas wishlist?

Strictly confidential: A Jazzy Lou Novel by Roxy Jacenko, $24.99
A fast paced, almost non-fiction insight into the world of fashion PR. It's a quick read filled with cocktails, backstabbing, and insomnia. While it did make me think twice about eating 3 square meals a day, the harsh fluorescent lights on fashion left me with no misconceptions. Great read for the train.

The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited by Karl Lagerfeld & Carine Roitfeld, $99.95
This book is Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfelds reinterpretation of Chanels iconic little black jacket. Lagerfeld has redesigned the jacket, transforming it into a modern, adaptable garment to be worn by both sexes of all ages. The Little Black Jacket contains Lagerfelds photographs of celebrities wearing the jacket with individual flair sometimes classic, sometimes irreverent, but always Chanel and each styled by Carine Roitfeld.

Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent by Carine Roitfeld, $76.99
Since the start of her career in the early 1990s, through her collaborations with the legendary photographer Mario Testino, Roitfeld has been credited with launching Tom Ford's career at Gucci, as well as turning French Vogue into one of the industry's most worshipped magazines. This elegant volume is a visual history of Roitfeld's fearless career.

The Gospel According To Coco Chanel: Life Lessons From The World's Most Elegant Woman by Karen Karbo, $17.99
A modern look at the life of a fashion icon--with practical life lessons for women of all ages Delving into the extraordinary life of renowned French fashion designer Coco Chanel, Karen Karbo has written a new kind of self-help book, exploring Chanel's philosophy on a range of universal themes--from style to passion, from money and success to femininity and living life on your own terms.

Grace: A memoir, by Grace Coddington $31.07
For decades, Grace Coddington's personal touch has steered wildly imaginative fashion spreads in Vogue magazine. Then came The September Issue, the behind-the-scenes documentary that turned the spotlight on a woman with a no-nonsense attitude and an unerring visual instinct. Overnight, the flame-haired Grace became a heroine for fashion insiders and the general public alike. Witty and forthright, and illustrated throughout with vintage photographs and exclusive line-drawings, Grace: A Memoir shares the excitement and vision that go into producing so many unforgettable fashion images.

Quite a book list but have we missed any? At Bright Green Laces, we never say no to another good recommendation.
